Frequently asked questions

Everything families in Greater Hamilton ask us before getting started.

How does matching work?

You tell us what you need — through the care matcher, a booking request, or a consultation request. Our coordination team reviews your needs and matches your family with the right professionals from our network. You don't have to search or vet anyone yourself; we coordinate the fit and the scheduling.

What does it cost?

Individual services vary by professional — for example, psychology sessions around $170–$180 and overnight nursing around $42–$45 per hour. Most families choose a package: Mix Essential is C$3,109, Comfort is C$5,669, and Premium is C$8,229. Packages bundle psychology, night nursing, doula care, psychiatrist referral coordination, and legal advice at a better effective rate.

Is any of this covered by OHIP or insurance?

Psychiatrist consultations are OHIP-covered with a referral from your family doctor or midwife — we coordinate that referral for you. Psychologists, night nurses, and doulas are not OHIP-covered, but many extended health benefit plans cover registered psychologists and sometimes nursing care. Check your plan's paramedical coverage; we can provide receipts with the details insurers ask for.

Where do you operate?

We support families in Greater Hamilton, and our professionals are based across the GTA. Many also offer virtual sessions, so support is available even if you're between in-person visits.

How quickly can support start?

It depends on the professional's availability, but most families are matched within a few days of their consultation. If your needs are urgent — especially around mental health — tell us and we'll prioritize. If you or someone you know is in crisis, call 911 or 988 (Canada's Suicide Crisis Helpline) right away.

Can I buy a package as a gift?

Yes. Friends and family often gift a package to an expecting parent. You pay securely online, and the recipient gets a gift code to redeem when they're ready — our team then coordinates their support from there.

Who provides the care?

Care is delivered by licensed, independent professionals — psychologists, psychiatrists, registered night nurses, employment lawyers, and postpartum doulas. FourthTrimester Connect coordinates services; the professionals deliver care and are responsible for their own clinical and legal advice.
